Summary: was great if this project did not need to be presented. However; in this difficult time widespread hunger according the World Food Program threatens the immediate survival of around 6 million people in the country.
According to different reports; Afghanistan has high rate of economic difficulties to meet the basic needs of its citizens. Children and widow are the most vulnerable in this difficult situation. The recent earthquake made the situation even more worse. It is a cruel fact that during any disaster women, children, and elderly people are the most vulnerable citizens. Vision

Afghans Fight on Poverty Field Soup Kitchen envision efforts to improve quality of life in the affected communities.  The Field Soup Kitchen strives to heighten awareness of the public responsibility to address poverty consequences.

Project Description

Unfortunately, during last 20 years, Afghanistan failed to reduce poverty and failed to mitigate human sufferings. The number of social-economic affected people in the communities increased widely and getting worse now. This winter and coming spring is the worst of times in general, but is tough for victims of the recent earthquake. We already many women, children, disabled have left the earthquake affected areas for the city. The sad reality of high levels unemployment, economic stagnation is the city of Herat won’t ease their pains. Therefore; is very convinced to take the services to the affected community in the affected areas to help reduce internal displacement, until a viable solution for the settlement is identified by the authorities.

The field soup-kitchen will operate either Meal 0n Wheel or setup a quick cooking container and distribute meals as take-out. In the Meal on Wheel method food cooked in our already existing soup-kitchen in the city of Herat and transported to the area 35km far from city. In take-out method we setup a 20” feet container to prepare the food in and distribute as take- out. In both methods the distributed ration hot meal can be shared among the family.

With broad simple management and clear mission AFPO tries to minimize the administration cost of the project. Plan a budget that reflects priorities. Carefully develop a patron’s relations to minimize labor and product costs. Assign qualified and dedicated staff to the jobs, buy raw materials from barging market, and prepare the meal close to the communities to avoid city bus transport cost to the beneficiaries and commodities cost for the kitchen. Also AFPO pays minimum wages to the project staff only. After set-up cost the kitchen provide best quality food menu (rice, meat or red beans, salad or fruit, spices, sanitary service) at the cost of less than $1 per person.

Financial budget

As non-profit organization AFP financial matters are public document and available to be scrutinized by the public and or organizations. The budget in this project is testimony to the degree to which we are adhering to our mission statement and it is based on a realistic projection of funding.

However; in this project there is reasonable cost for the facility in which the meal is prepared and served. Need to buy food preparation equipment, kitchen and dining supplies, and extensive transportation depends on sufficient funding availability. A major consideration in this project is the facility for preparing and serving meal. Efforts are made to keep the cost of this project to low level as much as possible. the kitchen and dining room in an existing rented building instead to build.

The first field soup-kitchen project will be very cost effective expected to feed daily up to 200 for 3 months (14,400 meals) at cost of less than a $1 per person per meal. Total project cost will be $17,622 and waiting for funding from potential generous donors.
